  • Life.

2 weeks ago I moved out of the apartment I've been in for almost 2 years.
1 week ago I left the job/kids/coworkers that I've been with for almost 2 years.
    Now?
I'm living with friends. I'm graduating in less than a week. I'm spending a relaxing summer close to family and the beach. I'm excited/terrified about TCU in the fall.
However, there's nothing like celebrating all of these changes with a beautiful roadtrip across Texas with some great friends.
    And ofcourse, a pig.

    Things I love today...

(and most of the time. but particularly today.)

    - Dark chocolate straight out of the refrigerator with a good Dove promise.
    - Fresh strawberries that didn't break the bank.
    - The scabs on my poor feet from running around in boots last night without socks.
    - Sunshine. That I will be sitting in shortly.
    - Daffodils. Why can't they bloom all year?
    - Tan lines in March.
    - Encouraging emails.
    - Obsessively looking at Great Dane rescue sites when I should be studying.
    - Spring break in a week. Graduation in 10.
    - Baby lotion. That I am quite possibly allergic to.

The current status of my freezer:

Somewhere after laying on the pavement after a good run ("katie! walk!") and before the post-run stretching and praying, one of us will be hit with an icecream craving. This naturally leads to a late night icecream run. Strawberry Cheesecake is my favorite. However, if they're sold out, I make up for it by buying two new flavor mixes. And that is how my freezer has ended up looking like the grocery store Ben&Jerry section.

A few weeks ago, I made a Braum's run with another friend and was sorely disappointed at the selection. Ben & Jerry's has spoiled my icecream tastes.

Dog-ears...

When we talk of materialism and simplicity, we must always begin with love for God and neighbor, otherwise we're operating out of little more than legalistic, guilt ridden self righteousness. Our simplicity is not an ascetic denunciation of material things to attain personal piety, for if we sell all that we have and give it to the poor, but have not love, it is meaningless (1Cor. 13:3).
